First and foremost I have to say that I am so happy to be back blogging it has been a while but I am back and I’m actually back with a series. I will be traveling in the next week and I decided to share All the things that I will be doing that will make life so much easier for me while I am on vacation. First things first let’s talk about hair!
If you are new here and you don’t know, I am a natural and I have been natural for the last 10years. Vacation has always been a little tricky for me when it comes to my hair. I’ve always been very picky about my hair, I don’t even go to a hairstylist. On top of that I tend to stay away from braids just because of my severe dandruff situation. I just end up having so many flakes and having to wash my hair way too often to keep a braided style in. So I debated on whether or not I would rock a wig or rock my natural curls for this trip. For every tropical trip that I go on I’m always dreading the fact that I have to rock my natural curls just because it takes so much time and care to manage them. This trip however I am going to be doing something different and I’m gonna be bouncing between a protective style my natural curls.
I was sent a headband unit by Luv Me Hair and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to test out the wear of this unit as well as see how easy it is to apply on a day to day basis.
My package came with with wig caps some stylish headbands as well as a brush for my edges, an all-around an awesome package.
Right out of the box I can tell you that the hair was soft, shiny and beautiful. I was sent the wet and wavy headband unit… the curl pattern is perfect for my tropical vacation!
The length is about 20 inches and based on my usage over the last few weeks shedding is minimal (not even worth mentioning but I know some of you might ask). Because I’ve never worn a wig on vacation I wanted to make sure that I would be able to style this unit and feel comfortable on a day-to-day basis so I have been wearing it for the last 2 weeks to prepare for my trip. For obvious reasons you can’t do a middle or a side part that would mimic a part from your scalp however you can manipulate the hair on the headband wig to create different styles. One of my go to’s are a high bun or a high ponytail. Because it does have a curl pattern it looks so natural when I wear it.
Now let’s talk about how easy it is to install. I started by flat twisting my hair (because I am one of those black girls who do not know how to cornrow *hides face in shame*). For the first couple weeks I just flat twist my natural hair without straightening it but I do think it would probably be easier and the unit will lay flatter if I at least blow dry my hair. But even without blow drying my hair this headband wig definitely is worth it! It is easy to pop on and run to the store or to look put together for a last minute zoom meeting and if you’d like you can always dress it up by slaying your baby hairs for a more refined look.
All I can say is I’m extremely excited. I’ve never had the opportunity to wear both my natural hair and a protective style on the same trip so having the option to wear my natural hair if I’d like or to simply pop on this headband wig is definitely a big plus!
