Too soon? Well let me let you in on a little secret… it’s easier to execute your new year goals or stick to your new year resolutions if you start preparing for it early. I started doing this back in 2017. I used the last quarter of the year to define my goals, create my action plan and I kid you not January of 2018 I accomplished my goal.
That year (2017) I made up my mind that I was going to work with major brands as a content creator/blogger. So rather than wait for 2018 to start accomplishing my goals, I decided to make 2018 my deadline. The premise was basically “Why wait?”. Why wait til next year to start creating the reality that I want? So that September I started researching. I researched blogger networking, I invested in a workshop to help me increase engagement and to help me improve my pitch and negotiation skills.
September and October were dedicated to research and tactics. November, I created a tracker and a list of all the brands I wanted to work with and began to reach out to them, pitching myself to become an ambassador of their company or to at least leave my contact information for future collaboration opportunities. In December I received a few opportunities to work with some really big brands and that January I was invited to work on campaigns for Neutrogena and Tresseme. That year (2018) I was also placed on the PR list for ORS and Masquology, and I modeled for Mielle Organics and also had numerous opportunities and collaborations with other brands.
Based on my previous blog you would know that 2019 was crazy for me. Honestly I didn’t write or plan goals but I did have 2 main things I wanted to accomplish by the end of the year, which were to remain on honor roll and to do something to commemorate and celebrate my father and his generous nature. So, I did, I made the deans list and created the Ian Flower’s Christmas Giveaway to assist with purchasing Christmas groceries for a family in need. My 2020 goals consisted of launching my business Lavish Closet, promoting and growing Glam 501 and getting back to Beauty and the Kinks… done, done, and DONE.
So what do you want and how do you plan on getting it?
My new year resolution for this year that I am yet to achieve is getting to the 25k average monthly views on my blog. It’s even harder now that I started medical school but I am still working towards it.
